Coach - Kaari Toivonen
Hi my name is Kaari and I’m one of the co-coaches (and competitors) for Deanne’s senior team in 2020.
This will be my 15th year of calisthenics and my 9th year of coaching across a variety of different age groups. Since starting calisthenics I’ve represented the ACT in four rep teams, as well as in the senior duo and solo sections.
Outside of calisthenics I’ve recently completed my Bachelor of Primary Education at the University of Canberra and in 2020 I will be starting my new career at a local primary school. In my spare time I enjoy keeping fit and active as well as spending time with my friends and family.
Calisthenics has been a huge aspect of my life for many years now and coaching has allowed to continue my passion of supporting others. I love spending time every week with likeminded people, helping them to become self-motivated and driven dancers that strive to be the best they come be. I’m looking forward to seeing the progression of not just my team, but the other teams within the club over 2020.
Coach - Sophie Pieper
My name is Sophie and this year will be my 21st year of calisthenics. I began my coaching career as a class assistant in 2010, attaining my level 1 accreditation in 2017. I am looking forward to coaching the Deanne Seniors this year as most of the girls I taught in my early days as a class assistant are now in our Seniors team along with the girls that I have been dancing with for years
Cadet - Zoe Heinrichs
I started calisthenics at the age of 6 and have competed for 20 years. Having moved from Melbourne to Canberra a few years ago, calisthenics was the best way to make amazing new friends in a new city.
I’m really looking forward to working with the Intermediates and the Seniors this year. Inters has always been my favourite age group to work with so it’ll be great to be back in there, and getting to work with the Seniors as an assistant will be a new experience!
